What is CTE  What CTE Offers  Job Opportunities  Did You Know  CTE Partners

Box Button California State University, Long Beach (CSULB)

Cerritos College and California State University (CSULB) have a long and strong history of working together to improve education.  Currently Cerritos College and CSULB have a model partnership revolving around the preparation of K-6 teachers. This 2+2 program has so successfully integrated the two programs that Cerritos College Teacher TRAC offers a comprehensive, fully articulated curriculum that mirrors almost exactly the first two years at CSULB and is aligned with the California Content and Professional Teaching Standards as well as the California Technology Standards.  During the past year, two new articulation agreements were formed with CSULB.  The first is part of a new program to recruit and prepare secondary mathematics and science teachers.  The second curriculum pathway is to recruit and prepare special education teachers.  This grant offers another opportunity to partner with CSULB and its Professional Studies department through which the vocational education teaching credential is offered.

Box Button California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA)

Cerritos College has already been offering CSULA students in construction technology classroom experiences in our woodworking department.  This grant will allow us to formally partner to finalize a curriculum pathway for future woodworking and automotive teachers. CSULA is the only CSU in Southern California to offer a single-subject credential in industrial and technology education and has a dedicated teaching laboratory.

Box Button Southeast Regional Occupational Program (SEROP)

The SEROP serves two school districts in the area, ABC and Norwalk La/Mirada USDs.  There are three coordinators who maintain coordination and collaboration with the district high schools and their administrators.  The coordinators spearhead curriculum development, course approvals, professional development and advisory committee meetings.  For purposes of this grant, they will assist in identification and recruitment of a cohort of students from those already surveyed who will undertake this activity.  SEROP staff will also assist in coordinating professional development in the area of standards alignment, and provide pathway articulations.

Box Button Southland Motor Car Dealer's Association (SMCDA)

The industry partner in this grant, the SMCDA, will assist in the effort of advisement and subsequent recruitment as it relates to the area of Automotive Technology.  The Southland Cerritos Motor Car Dealer’s Association (SCMCDA) has partnered with the Cerritos College Advanced Transportation Technology Center in many projects and proposals.  Most recently the SCMCDA is partnering with the College in the Quick Start Partnership involving expanded career paths to students enrolled in the Automotive Career Institute, in which Southeast ROP is also a partner, in addition to several local school districts.
