Middle School /
High School Pathway: Our Partners

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB)
Cerritos College and California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) have a long and
strong history of working together to improve education. Currently Cerritos
College and CSULB have a model partnership revolving around the preparation
of K-6 teachers. This 2+2 program has so successfully integrated the two
programs that Cerritos College Teacher TRAC offers a comprehensive, fully
articulated curriculum that mirrors almost exactly the first two years at
CSULB and is aligned with the California Content and Professional Teaching
Standards as well as the California Technology Standards.
Teacher TRAC and CSULB have extended that partnership to allow students the
opportunity to work on their coursework at the Middle School / High School
Level and achieve a B.A. Degree in Liberal Arts. Through the Teacher
TRAC Program, students are taught using a comprehensive, fully articulated
curriculum similar to CSULB that is also aligned with the California Content
and Professional Teaching Standards as well as the California Technology
Standards.
In addition to this extended partnership; two new articulation agreements were formed with CSULB
in the last few years. The
first is part of a new program to recruit and prepare secondary mathematics
and science teachers. The second curriculum pathway is to recruit and
prepare special education teachers at all levels of education.

Norwalk / La Mirada Unified (NLMUSD)
Cerritos College and Norwalk / La Mirada Unified School District have been
working together for a number of years. With the support from the
Norwalk/La Mirada School District, Cerritos College Teacher TRAC has been
able to provide hands on experience and mentoring to Teacher TRAC Students,
especially our Math and Science Teachers. This grant allows us to
continue our working relationship with the district in creating a pathway
for future teachers at the Junior High and High
School Level. We appreciate all the support the District has supplied to us
and our students and look forward to many more collaborative projects with
the District in the future.
